“One Music, One Culture” was the unifying theme behind the 2009 festival. Cresting Somali hip hop star K’naan headlined the most well attended festival to date. The b-boy/b-girl battle grew larger, helped with the screening of the amazing film Planet B-Boy. You would have never known the festival condensed to two days with all that went on including a new concert focus on bands. Six full hip hop bands played mixing sounds from Zimbabwe, Brooklyn, Ghana and more. A full beatboxing workshop was added by Czech Republic’s BeatBurgerBand, 2nd place team from the World Beatboxing Championships.
